Nepal is a landlocked and a youngest republic country. With Himalayas on the north, contains the eight highest mountains in the world. These cities pack a concentration of religious monuments unequalled in the world including UNESCO recognized World Heritage Sites.

 

How do I get there?
By Air
Kathmandu -the capital city of Nepal is connected by air with Bangkok , Honkong, Shanghai , Lhasa, Chengdu, Osaka , Singapore , Dubai , Doha , Abudhabi, Karachi , Dhaka and Indian cities Delhi , Mumbai, Banglore, Kolkatta and Varanasi

Royal Nepal Airlines is the national flag carrier. Thai Airways operates daily flights between Bangkok and Kathmandu . Other airlines are flying in and out of Kathmandu are Qatar Airlines, Gulf Airways, Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, Sahara Airlines, Druk Air, Air China , Biman Bangladesh and Pakistan International Airlines etc. Austrian Airlines and Martin Air seasonally connect Kathmandu with Viena and Amsterdam respectively.

 

By Surface
As Nepal is surrounded from three sides by India, and if you are traveling in India prior to Nepal, you can see if its possible to travel to Nepal via Surface. The popular entry points used by tourist to enter Nepal by surface.

 

Kakarbhitta
Kakarbhitta is Nepal's eastern border town. People traveling in Sikkim and Darjeeling can enter Nepal via Kakarbhitta. Bhadrapur airport of Eastern lies just half an hour drive from Kakarbhitta and has regular flights operated by domestic airlines of Nepal. In the Indian side, Bagdogra airport lies in one hour driving distance from Kakarbhitta Border.

 

Sunanuli ( Belahiya)
Gorakhapur Railway Station is located in about 2 hours driving distance from Sunauli and is one of the most used entry points by travelers. Gorakphur has railway connection with major Indian Cities including Delhi and Mumbai. People who are already in Varanasi also enter Nepal via Sunauli. Its 8-9 hours drive from Varanasi to Sunauli.

 

Kodari
Kodari is the border town used by travelers to travel overland between Nepal and Tibet . From Kathmandu , Kodari is 113 km and is a journey of 4 hours. From Kodari, Lhasa-Tibet's capital city is a 5 days overland journey, driving 6 hours in average.

 

Passport and Visa

Gratis visa is available for tourists of SAARC member countries and People's Republic of China.
Gratis visa is available upon arrival for all tourists who visit Nepal for 3 days or less or a repeater who has spent at least 15 days during his first visit within the same visa year.


Visa Fee:
Single entry- US$ 30 days for 60 days
Multiple entry- US$ 80.

 

Visa will be extended subsequently for 30 days each upon payment of US$ 30 for a maximum period of 150 days in a visa year (Jan-Dec).

Indians do not require visa to visit Nepal . However, they require being in possession of any one of the following documents while traveling between the two countries.

-Valid national passport
-Photo identity card issued by the government of India/any State Government or Union.

-Territory/Administration in India/Identity Cards issued by the Election Commission of India. (Except Tatkal --Identity Cards issued by the Ministry of Railways).


-Children between 10-18 years age group are allowed to travel by air on the strength of a passport or photo identity card issued by the Principal of their school or college.


-Emergency Certificate issued by Embassy of India , Kathmandu to Indian nationals in case of emergent conditions.

 

Children up to the age of 10 years will not require the above-mentioned documents for traveling between India and Nepal, by air.
